Chai Bei

My name is Cici, and I have been practicing Cai Bei for 12 years; 10 of those years were my formative years in Hong Kong and I have been helping clients here in Montreal for the last 2 years.

I came upon Cai Bei out of desperation due to a severe fall I had as a young woman, which dislocated my hip and caused trauma to my muscles and nerves in my lower body region. I suffered for 2 years with no hope of ever recuperating and regaining normal mobility, even sitting and getting up was a very painful experience. In Hong Kong when you have any ailment you can always see a doctor practiced in western medicine or one can go the traditional route and seek out Chinese healers whether they be herbalist or bone -setters that treat broken bones and twisted ligaments. All was in vain, normal mobility was still out of reach and relief was only temporary.

I was introduced to an elderly lady whose name translates into “3rd older sister” and she was a practitioner of Cai Bei; she was highly regarded by the people that she had treated. I had nothing to lose and everything to gain if it worked. I was formally warned that the treatments would be uncomfortable at the beginning and may be painful. I had tried everything else to no avail; I had to go through with it. As promised , the treatments were very uncomfortable and painful at first, but gradually the pain turned to relief and improvements were made with each session.

I religiously kept my appointments 3 times a week and in 2 months time I had totally regained full normal mobility with no residual effects or pain even to this day. When my treatments were over I decided that this would be what I’d like to do; to be able to help people who are in the same predicament as I was. I pleaded with my teacher to teach me her art and I then took up an apprenticeship with her (traditional Chinese culture involves taking a student as an apprentice). When I met my teacher , she was already an elderly woman, she is retired today and has gone into reclusion, not even the most elderly students know where she is today.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my clients here in Montreal for putting their trust in me, for giving me the chance to make a difference in their well being. I am grateful and indebted to them.
